Our Work in Action

My Voice, My Power

My Voice, My Power is the first programme of its kind in Rwanda, combining gender equality and rights training with Girl Empowerment Self Defence, as well as engaging boys alongside girls for sustainable change.

Our flagship programme teaches teens about gender norms, SRHR (Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights), teen pregnancy prevention, gender-based violence, and community leadership.

Court Clubs

Partnering with Boston-based sport-for-development org Shooting Touch, we created a bespoke new programme model: Court Clubs.

Court Clubs gives teenage girls vital training in leadership, gender education, and gender-based violence, all while helping increase the participation of girls in basketball in Rwanda!

Custom Workshops & Projects

Did you know that we can create a bespoke gender training programme to complement the work your organization does?

You can choose from customized training workshops or full project models. We’ll help you supplement your existing work with the power of critical thinking and gender knowledge for social change, driving improved development outcomes for your beneficiaries.

The Queen’s Gambit

The Queen’s Gambit was a unique 3-month educational project for secondary school girls in Rwanda, focusing on core capacity building in critical areas like gender and leadership, and youth-led community development projects.

With our expert guidance, our cohort came away with advanced critical thinking and problem solving skills, just some of the numerous developmental benefits of the game of chess, to complement their newfound skills and community activism!

The Uwicyeza Project

The Uwicyeza Project was our first comprehensive participatory educational project, focusing on gender education and skills development for secondary school girls in Rwanda, the success of which has underpinned all of our future work.

Find out how we coupled educational workshops with in-depth mentoring by young Rwandan mentors, to equip students with both critical knowledge and practical skills.

Engaging Men & Boys

Gender equality will never be achieved if girls alone are the only people responsible for creating it.

Men and boys have a crucial role to play in ending gender-based violence and discrimination - and our expertise can help you engage them in this vital work.

Community Clubs for Social Change

Owned and driven by teens themselves, our community clubs model emboldens young people to become advocates of gender equality and social justice within their own communities.

Our participatory workshops develop foundational knowledge for adolescents in critical areas of social justice and leadership, after which our team supports them in establishing their own advocacy clubs, creating a ripple effect of social change.

We know many organizations out there are already doing incredible work in key areas such as education, healthcare, economic empowerment and violence.

Paper Crown offers individual training workshops or customized suites of workshops, as well as customized full project models, for interested organizations looking to supplement their existing work with the power of critical thinking and gender knowledge for social change, to drive improved development outcomes for their beneficiaries.
